It’s interesting how we grow and change.
I used to try my best to put on my “good face,” give the “right answers” and make everyone think, “every thing is perfectly fine” in my life.
But tonight, I’m sitting in my bed thinking, “Man, I can’t wait until I can share my entire testimony!”
Since childhood people have thought my life is great, amazing, easy, painless. I’ve had people tell me they wish they were in my family or wish they had some skill or characteristic I possess. If only I could show them that the glitter they see is definitely not gold. Maybe it used to be glitter, but it rusted? Or maybe it was copper the whole time but the sun was just hitting it the right way? Who came up with this saying anyway?
Anyway, I know my story will be in the making for as long as I’m on earth, but I’m looking forward to the day when I get to share about God’s faithfulness in my life up until this point. How He’s used mistakes, weaknesses, fears, jacked up situations, and broken people to do beautiful things.
Boy has this journey with Jesus been a ride so far! Through all the ups, downs, turns, and drops (have definitely felt like the ground was removed from under me a time or two), one thing remains…God.
Not only is God still God, but all of His attributes, attitudes, thoughts towards me, they’ve all been consistent the entire time.
So tonight, although I’m anxious to share specifics, I will withhold until the time is right. For now, just know that I understand how life can sometimes suck, hurt, and make you want to leave this earth completely. So many times I’ve asked Jesus to “come and get me!” (Obviously that prayer has been overlooked a time or seven.)
Just wanted to take a moment to encourage those who may be going through some rocky times.
God knows exactly where you are. I promise. I know it hurts bad and you want it to end like five yesterdays ago, but don’t rush the process.
There is beauty in the pain. Trust me, you won’t see the beauty every day and you sometimes don’t see the beauty till you’re out of the pain, but just know, you are loved by the God of all creation. He hasn’t gotten too busy for your situation or circumstance and He cares. He is full of compassion and He understands.
So hurt, cry, whatever it is you have to do, just remind yourself of these truths throughout the process of walking through the pain:
God wants to help us through our pain
“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” – Hebrews 4:16
God is with us in our pain
“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” –Isaiah 41:10
God will never leave us alone in our pain
“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 8:38-39 (aka my favorite promise and “Shout” verse)
Be encouraged my friends. I know where you are, but most importantly, Our Father knows and He’s already done something about it.
